How to improve the toughness of the glass?

First, the toughening principle:

1. The customization of self-toughening glass cups is to add two-phase raw materials to the raw materials to control the molding conditions and reaction process. The growth of alumina grains is directly induced by high-temperature chemical reaction or induction, so that the reinforcement or wafer with uniform distribution of whiskers and large grain aspect ratio grows in the host crystal matrix.

2. The defects of incompatibility and uneven distribution of the two phases are avoided, and the strength and toughness are higher than those of similar materials toughened by the outer two phases, thereby further improving the mechanical properties of the material.

Second, product toughening method:

1. When the crack encounters long columnar particles during the expansion process, it bends along the interface of the weak particle/matrix and deviates from the direction perpendicular to the interface, thereby prolonging the expansion path of the crack during the glass customization process and consuming more energy , so as to achieve the purpose of tempering the glass.

2. Bridging toughening means that when the whiskers have cracks in the matrix, they bear additional loads like bridges and form bridges between the crack surfaces of the matrix. The whiskers on the fracture surface of the bridge body generate force to close the crack and consume external force to do work, thereby improving the toughness and strength of the glass.

3. When the matrix crack propagates, the stress concentration leads to the dissociation of the interface between the weak grain and the matrix; when further stretched, the grain breaks at the weak point and is then pulled out from the matrix. The grain drawing process needs to consume a certain amount of energy to achieve the purpose of toughening the material.

Therefore, users who like glasses are afraid that they will not fall off in the first place. However, although the anti-drop performance of glasses has improved, it does not mean that they can drop, throw, and touch them at will, nor does it mean that they cherish their glasses and wash them regularly so that they can better use beautiful and clean glasses.
